The Buffalo Bills dismantled the Detroit Lions on Thursday Night Football in a 41-31 Week 2 win that included a balanced rushing and passing attack. James Cook racked up 135 yards on 21 carries which caused teammate Dion Dawkins to remark that Thursday felt like playing a Madden video game.

The Bills' offensive balance became a topic of focus for analyst Marcus Spears on ESPN's NFL Live Friday as he praised Cook, head coach Joe Brady, quarterback Josh Allen and the running game.

“Now you add James Cook which became the element when Joe Brady took over as offensive coordinator, this football team wanted to run the football down people's throat, and they have the ability to do both,” Spears said.

“I think Joe Brady has done as good a job, taming the beast, for instance when it comes to Josh Allen and now these performances I expect to see every week from him because he's (Allen) playing from such comfort because of his play-caller and head coach now.”

Brady was promoted to head coach from offensive coordinator this offseason and inherited a team that has been in the spotlight but hasn't made a Super Bowl with Allen as its quarterback. Cook was selected with the 63rd pick of the 2022 NFL Draft and has exceeded expectations so far during his time with the Bills.

Allen was compared to LeBron James by analyst Colin Cowherd after his team's win over the Lions, but even LeBron James needed Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh to win his first NBA championship. Cook brings similar star talents to the running back position, sparking hopes for a long playoff run in Buffalo this season.
