If Texas Tech football ends up falling to Houston in Lubbock on Friday, it will be kicking itself for two improbable interceptions in the first half. The Cougars deserve credit for coming away with the ball, however. Will James made Thomas Castellanos pay on a pass that was supposed to be thrown away on the Red Raiders' first offensive play, and Jalen Mayo took advantage of a fallen wide receiver and made a leaping one-handed pick near the end zone.

The redshirt senior defensive back did his best Odell Beckham Jr. impression and denied Texas Tech the chance to put more points on the board before halftime. Houston went into the locker room with a 17-14 lead. Castellanos and Will Hammond will be studying the film closely after this Big 12 face-off.
