Coach Charles Lee's Charlotte Hornets faced the Washington Wizards at home in a game that included a huge first-half effort from slam dunk artist Brandon Miller. Miller was a one-man band as the Hornets trudged forward without injured, fellow rising star Kon Knueppel, knocking down three three-pointers to lead his team.
Miller was 3-for-6 from deep with 18 points at halftime, and hit his 500th career three-pointer with just over eight minutes on the clock before halftime, which put him in elite company. Miller became the second-fastest NBA player of all-time to reach the mark.

Miller reached the feat in 170 games, trailing only Duncan Robinson of the Detroit Pistons, who reached it in 152 games. The Warriors legend Curry needed 221 games to reach the mark, with Damian Lillard (2015) the only player in the top ten to reach it before the 2020s, a clue as to the way the game has changed in recent years.

Miller is looking like one of the most underrated and best NBA Draft picks in recent memory, and he has a $209 million contract extension to back it up. Athletic and a knockdown outside shooter, Miller looked like a franchise cornerstone as the Hornets continued to hold off their challengers from Washington, D.C. on an action-packed night in the NBA.
