Henry Cullen signs new three-year deal with Worcestershire until 2029

Worcestershire County Cricket Club confirmed on September 24, 2026 that wicketkeeper-batter Henry Cullen has put pen to paper on a new three-year deal, tying him to New Road until at least 2029.

The 23-year-old came through the county's Academy and Pathway system and has grown into a regular presence across all three formats since making his competitive debut in 2022.

"Having grown up here and playing through the age groups at Worcestershire, it was a pretty straightforward decision to re-sign. I love playing my part within the dressing room and a big factor in my decision has been the ability to contribute that little bit more over the last two years where I feel I am improving. I have built more and more confidence as time has gone on across all three formats, especially in red ball cricket having made my debut this year and having more of a role within the side, so I am keen to keep developing that part of my game. “It is a great place to play cricket and is a dream to be representing Worcestershire," Cullen said in an official statement.

Chief Executive Officer Ashley Giles outlined the club's rationale for the extension, wanting to focus on the development of homegrown talent.

"First and foremost, Henry is a superb young cricketer, who has a lot of potential as both a batter and a wicket keeper, and has made an excellent start to his professional career over the last couple of years. Focussing on homegrown talent is a central to the success of any side, and that is no different for us here at New Road. We are always looking to build for the future, and Henry is part of that longer-term vision and someone who we see playing a key role across all formats," Giles said in the statement.

What has Cullen contributed on the field for Worcestershire?

Cullen's most celebrated moment in List A cricket arrived when he struck the winning runs in the 2025 Metro Bank One Day Cup final, as Worcestershire defeated Hampshire to lift the trophy. He has posted four half-centuries in that format, underlining his value as a batting option in the 50-over game.

His red-ball credentials also advanced during the summer of 2026, when he registered a career-best score of 64 against Northants in first-class cricket, a result that signalled meaningful progress in his development at the longer format. Worcestershire Men's Head Coach Alan Richardson backed Cullen's continued presence at the club.

"Henry is a local lad who has come through our Pathway and Academy and represents Worcestershire with all the right values, both on and off the pitch. As a young man he has shown he has the right attributes to adapt to situations across all three-formats with the bat and is constantly pushing himself to improve his wicket keeping. We are really excited to have him on board moving forward," Richrdson said in the statement.
