On Wednesday evening, the Miami Heat continued their preseason with a home game against the Brooklyn Nets. This game marked the unofficial home debut of trade acquisition Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was acquired by the Heat this offseason from the Milwaukee Bucks.

Now, Antetokounmpo has gotten some high praise from his new teammate, Miami point guard Davion Mitchell.

“For the most part He’s the greatest player to play the game so he’s really going to figure it out…he’s a really good passer so he’s going to find you on the open cuts because people are trying to build the wall…sometimes you don’t even know if you’re open and he just ends up finding you being open…he just needs to 2 dribbles and he’s dunking the ball,” he said, per The HEAT Realm on X, formerly Twitter, via Brendan Tobin.

While most would disagree with Mitchell's “greatest player” claim, Antetokounmpo is looking to prove that he is still among the game's elite this year, having missed a large chunk of his last season with Milwaukee due to injury.

Meanwhile, Pat Riley finally delivered on his assurance to shake things up this summer by trading for the disgruntled star, who will look to help the Heat bounce back after they've won a grand total of one playoff game in the last three years.

For his part, Mitchell has turned himself into a serviceable NBA point guard, although there are questions about whether or not he would fit more into a reserve role, especially considering the lack of shot creation on the Heat roster on the perimeter.

In any case, the Heat will kick off their new season on October 21 at home vs the Minnesota Timberwolves.
