After the Heat started the season on a brutal 0-4 stretch, the team has now won the past two games, with the latest being a 145-125 win over the Indiana Pacers in the first NBA Cup group play game. As the Heat look to keep the winning streak going, a key piece to the success, Davion Mitchell took time to respond to a fan critiquing his play.

So far this season, Mitchell has averaged 16.2 points and 8.2 assists per game through six contests, as one X, formerly Twitter, account by the name of “@HeatvsHaters” highlighted the point guard's other impressive statistics. Along with listing that he has four double-doubles already, a fan would respond by saying that Mitchell has 17 turnovers, with the most being 23, an aspect that is “killing” Miami.

“He has 17 turnovers this season. The most in the NBA is 23. With the usage he gets, 17 turnovers is KILLING the Heat. Aside from that, he playing great ball,” @Drewthee12th wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Mitchell had a simple response to the fan:

“[Shut up] drew and eat [hot dog emoji],” Mitchell responded, as the hot dog emoji could be understood as a metaphor for something else.

Heat's Davion Mitchell joining exclusive company with start

There's no denying that Mitchell has been a standout, marking him as the second-only Heat player to have 10 or more assists in four of the team's first six games of the regular season. That joins Tim Hardaway Sr. to begin the 1997-98 season, as Mitchell has been pivotal to the starting lineup alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bam Adebayo, Klay Thompson, and Andrew Wiggins.

The starting lineup no doubt needed time to mesh with one another, as the last two games saw Miami play more comfortably and in flow, with Antetokounmpo saying to ClutchPoints that it starts defensively.

“I feel like once we guard, we take their airspace and we are physical, and we put our hands on the ball, and then their bodies, the game becomes easier for us,” Antetokounmpo said.
