Dyson Daniels has been doing a little bit of everything for the Atlanta Hawks this season, and his all-around production has put him in some rare company alongside Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen.
Through the first 11 games of the season, Daniels has tallied 108 points, 79 rebounds, 60 assists and 32 steals, in a report by Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.
That makes him the first player since Pippen in 1994 to record at least 100 points, 75 rebounds, 50 assists and 30 steals through the first 11 games of a season.
The comparison is a fitting one. Pippen built his Hall of Fame career on being a do-it-all wing who could defend multiple positions, rebound, create for others and wreak havoc in passing lanes. Daniels has carved out a similar identity in Atlanta.
The 23-year-old is averaging 9.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 2.9 steals per game this season. His defense, in particular, has been a game-changer. Daniels racked up seven steals in a 128-81 rout of the Charlotte Hornets in the second game of the season, and he has kept his foot on the gas since then.
He did it again in Saturday’s 124-121 win over the Brooklyn Nets, finishing with nine points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and six steals. He did most of his damage inside, with eight of his points coming in the paint. Jalen Johnson led the way with 30 points on 11-of-17 shooting, while Onyeka Okongwu chipped in 16 points, five assists and three blocks.
The victory extended Atlanta’s winning streak to four games and improved the Hawks to 7-4 on the season.
Article Continues BelowNone of this should come as a big surprise. Daniels broke out in his first season with the Hawks in 2024-25, winning the NBA Most Improved Player award and earning a spot on the All-Defensive First Team. He has since established himself as one of the league’s most disruptive perimeter defenders, and he is now a two-time All-Defensive selection.
If he keeps this pace up, Daniels could find himself firmly in the Defensive Player of the Year conversation once again.
Daniels and the Hawks will look to keep their winning streak alive when they host Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday, which should give him another chance to test himself against one of the league’s hottest scorers.
