The Cleveland Guardians are just a half-game behind the Chicago White Sox in the American League Central standings. Cleveland's bullpen could receive a boost soon, as Colin Holderman is recovering from a wrist injury and may join the Guards next week.

“Colin Holderman said he’s set to make a rehab appearance with Columbus tomorrow. Assuming all goes well, could be first of two outings before rejoining the Guardians next week,” Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Holderman, a 30-year-old veteran pitcher, has been one of the Guardians' more consistent relievers so far in 2026. The right-handed hurler has turned in a strong 2.73 ERA across 54 outings with the ball club. Holderman is currently in his first season with Cleveland after previously pitching for the New York Mets and Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Guardians' pitching has been a strength over the years, but Cleveland's bullpen has been inconsistent at times this year. Cade Smith, of course, is arguably the best closer in the league, but a number of other relievers have not been especially reliable. Holderman's presence in the bullpen changes the dynamic of the Guardians' relief core.

Updates on Colin Holderman's injury status will continue to be monitored and provided as they are made available.

As for the Guardians, they are set to play the final contest of their three-game series against the White Sox on Wednesday afternoon at 10:10 PM ET. The series is currently tied 1-1. Wednesday afternoon's game will determine which team leaves the series as the leader of the American League Central division.
