Greg Rousseau has put together an impressive start to the 2026 season and the league has taken notice.

Rousseau has been named AFC defensive player of the month for September.

Through three weeks, Rousseau leads the league with 6.0 sacks, eight tackles for loss, and three forced fumbles.

According to the league, he is the third player since 1982 — when the sack became an official stat — with at least 2.0 sacks in each of a team’s first three games. Mark Gastineau accomplished the feat in 1984 and Kevin Greene did it in 1998.

This is Rousseau’s first career defensive player of the month award.

He also is just 2.0 sacks away from his career-high of 8.0, which he registered in 2022 and 2024.

The Bills will host the Patriots on Sunday.
