The Philadelphia 76ers recently got training camp underway as they prepare for the upcoming 2026-27 NBA season. The 76ers have several new faces in the fold, headlined by LeBron James and Jaylen Brown, but also including former NBA fan favorite Tacko Fall, who is competing for a roster spot in training camp.

Sadly, Fall got a tough injury update on Thursday.

“MRI revealed Tacko Fall suffered a left hip strain, reevaluated in 2 weeks per Sixers,” reported Kyle Neubeck of PHLY Sports on X, formerly Twitter.

The update would seemingly deliver a tough blow to Fall's chances of making the final roster when it is announced later this month.

Fall has had some moments at the NBA level after becoming a nationally known player in college due to his enormous height and stature.

He hasn't been in the league in a while, and many fans were excited about the opportunity to see him compete for a roster spot on one of the most high-profile teams heading into this season.

While this injury isn't a death sentence for those chances, it certainly won't help Fall in his quest for an NBA comeback.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia is hoping training camp will provide an opportunity for James, Brown, Tyrese Maxey, and Joel Embiid to develop some synergy before the new season gets underway amid questions about their fit on the court, in addition to their own health concerns.

If the pieces fall into place, the 76ers undeniably have the requisite talent to compete at the highest level this year.

The 76ers will open up their regular season on October 20 with a road game against the New York Knicks.
