The Blue Jays are heading down south for a massive series this weekend against the Rangers, with postseason implications aplenty. Toronto rookies certainly dressed for the occasion.
The Blue Jaysâ first-year players -- including Brett Bateman, Charles McAdoo, Sean Keys, Kazuma Okamoto and Trey Yesavage -- all donned cowboy hats, plaid sleeveless shirts, cutoff jeans and cowboy boots. One fan even received a signed ear of corn.
The idea for this particular theme for the traditional rookie road trip came from 42-year-old Max Scherzer, according to Toronto veteran Myles Straw.
âÂÂHe was excited to show me a couple of days ago, and I thought it would be great, especially for a couple of the guys weâÂÂve got in the rookie class,â Straw said. âÂÂHopefully, there are some pictures. IâÂÂm sure there will be some pictures posted and [the media] will probably like it.âÂÂÃÂ
The Blue Jays' series with the Rangers begins Friday at Globe Life Field.
