Earlier this year, former AEW and WWE wrestler Jake Hager, also known as Jack Swagger, signed up with Dana White's Power Slap. After signing up for the promotion, Hager, 44, competed in three fights.
However, of his three fights, Hager won just one. He won his debut fight against Devin Jenkins, but suffered a loss to Amanpreet Singh, followed by another loss to Johnny Magna (an independent pro wrestler for NWA New Mexico) in Lubbock, Texas. Unfortunately, Hager not only lost to Magna, but also suffered a concerning eye injury that required surgery.
Blood started oozing out of Hager’s eye after he took a big hit while facing Magna. The concerning moment went extremely viral and started doing the rounds on the internet. Shortly after, Dana White also described it as one of the worst injuries he had ever seen.
Nicholas Cvjetkovich, formerly known as Kizarny in WWE, recently issued an update on Hager. “Sinn Bodhi [Cvjetkovich] revealed Jake can see out of his left eye after suffering a gruesome globe rupture at Power Slap 23 in Lubbock, Texas last month. The extent to which Jake's vision will be restored is unknown at this time and he may require additional surgeries. Either way this is a promising update and we hope to see Jake regain 100% of his vision,” the social media post read [via Slap News].
As of now, neither Hager nor Power Slap has officially commented on his injury or return timeline. He sustained a serious injury against Magna, Hager was also knocked out during his second match against Singh.
