Kelsey Mitchell made WNBA history Friday night, and her Indiana Fever teammates made sure she celebrated in style. Instead of the usual locker-room water shower and Gatorade drums being poured on, Mitchell was greeted with a blast of confetti after setting the leagueâÂÂs single-season scoring record.
In the video shared by the Indiana Fever's official X, formerly Twitter account, Mitchell was met with chants and appreciation from her teammates as confetti covered the locker room.

The veteran guard broke the record during IndianaâÂÂs 103-85 win over the expansion Toronto Tempo. She finished with 33 points on 12-of-17 shooting, taking her season total to 1,034 points. She passed AâÂÂja WilsonâÂÂs previous record of 1,021 points, set during WilsonâÂÂs unanimous MVP season in 2024.
Additionally, the four-time WNBA All-Star also won praise from Fever teammates after the historic night.

Mitchell needed a big performance to reach the milestone and delivered from the start. She shot 70.6% from the field and knocked down the third-quarter 3-pointer that moved her past Wilson.
The performance also extended MitchellâÂÂs WNBA record to 25 straight games with at least 20 points. That streak has helped make her one of the leagueâÂÂs most consistent offensive players this season.
MitchellâÂÂs scoring has been especially important for a Fever team that has dealt with plenty of attention surrounding Clark and IndianaâÂÂs young core. She has remained a reliable scoring option while carrying a major part of the offensive workload.
