Coach Mike Norvell's Florida State football team fell to 1-2 on the season after Week 3's 50-36 loss to Alabama that came amid a surprising weather delay. The Seminoles, their fans, and talented quarterback Ashton Daniels came into the game wondering if Norvell could recapture the magic he found in 2023, while rumors of a possible Jimbo Fisher reunions swirled.

Daniels, who transferred to Florida State football from the Auburn Tigers this offseason, racked up 384 total yards and two passing touchdowns, but hurt his team's cause with three interceptions. After the game, he was shown speaking with Alabama football coach Kalen DeBoer as Crimson Tide fans chanted their famous Rammer Jammer cheer.

Beating Alabama in Tuscaloosa is a tall order, one that Norvell and Daniels failed to fulfill in Week 3 as the injury-stricken Seminoles defense was shredded for 568 total yards. Alabama QB Keelon Russell outdueled Daniels, but Daniels earned the respect of his peers as he battled to the bitter end.

Coach Norvell and Daniels' Seminoles have a chance to rebound against Central Arkansas on September 26 at 3 p.m. ET in a must-win game. Norvell and Daniels haven't been able to quiet calls for Florida State to make a change after a rough start to the 2026 college football season, but they will continue to fight.

The Seminoles will have another opportunity to score a signature win on Oct. 3 against the Virginia Cavaliers in Tallahassee, but it won't be easy based on the team's latest results. Florida State football's quarterback looks like he still has plenty of fuel left in the tank, but he needs help from his defense. If something doesn't change in a hurry, Florida State might be forced to make a head coaching change sooner than later as another season heads toward the brink of failure.
