The semifinals are underway in the 2026 WNBA Playoffs, as four teams remain in the mix for the Finals. It appears this year's postseason is on pace to be the most-watched in league history, as the viewership numbers revealed for the first round indicate as such.
It's said that the first round of the WNBA Playoffs this year averaged 1.30 million viewers, according to women's basketball insider Khristina Williams. Those numbers were an average across each network broadcasting the games, and are up a whopping 37% from 2025.
“The 2026 WNBA Playoffs First Round is officially the most watched ever,” Williams reported. “Through 10 games, the First Round is averaging 1.30M viewers across all networks (ESPN, Prime Video, USA Network), up 37% from last year and 17% from the previous record set in 2024.”
The first round consisted of several intriguing matchups, with the Las Vegas Aces-Indiana Fever series taking up plenty of headlines through three games. The WNBA continues to take strides in growth, and the proof is in the pudding early on in the postseason.
Article Continues BelowWe're now in the middle of the second round of the WNBA Playoffs. The Atlanta Dream are up 1-0 over the New York Liberty. Meanwhile, the Golden State Valkyries are up 1-0 over the Las Vegas Aces. Game 2 for both matchups is scheduled for Wednesday, October 7. If the views maintain, it could very well be the most-watched playoffs ever for the league.
The Liberty and Dream will be the first to play on Wednesday, with that game tipping off at 7:30 p.m. EST. The Aces and Valkyries will begin shortly after at 9:30 p.m. EST.
