With only four games remaining in the 2026 WNBA season, the Portland Fire have already been eliminated from playoff contention. Finishing up their inaugural season in the league, the team has some intriguing young talent moving forward. The Fire added to that roster this week with the signing of 2024 WNBA Draft pick Charisma Osborne on one of the league’s new development contracts, the team announced.

On a development contract, Charisma Osborne is limited in terms of when she can appear in a game for the Fire, as the team needs to activate her on the roster. Her first opportunity to see playing time would be on Thursday as the Fire host the Phoenix Mercury in their first game back from the FIBA World Cup break.

The No. 25 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Osborne played her rookie season in spurts with the Mercury. She was cut before the start of the regular season, but later re-signed about one month into the season.

Osborne was limited as a rookie due to injury, and she only appeared in two games at just about five minutes per game. In her WNBA debut, a loss to the Minnesota Lynx, she finished with two points, one rebound and one assist in a little over seven minutes while shooting 1-of-2 from the field.

She was a star at UCLA where she made four All-Pac 12 First Team appearances in five seasons and two All-Defensive First Team appearances. Since her rookie year with the Mercury, she played for Athletes Unlimited during the 2025 season.
