Caitlin Clark had a heartfelt surprise for her alma mater after the Indiana Fever’s painful exit from the WNBA playoffs. The star point guard gifted the Iowa Hawkeyes women’s basketball team with pairs of her new Nike Caitlin 1 signature shoes.

In a video recently shared on X, formerly Twitter, Iowa coach Jan Jensen could be seen revealing the surprise to her players during practice.

While the atmosphere was otherwise joyful, the gift came one day after Clark and the Fever were eliminated from the WNBA playoffs. Indiana lost 94-83 to the defending champion Las Vegas Aces in Game 3 of their first-round series Thursday.

The Hawkeyes received the yellow “Warning Code” colorway of the Caitlin 1. The shoes feature a Yellow Zest and Soft Yellow Opticast upper, cream-colored laces, a Racer Blue outsole, and layered Swooshes in blue, black, and green.

Clark spent four seasons at Iowa and became the program’s all-time leader in points and assists. She finished her college career with 3,951 points and 1,144 assists while leading the Hawkeyes to consecutive national championship games in 2023 and 2024.

Although Iowa did not win a title during Clark’s career, her impact on the program remains significant. She was selected No. 1 overall by the Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft and has continued to build her profile in the league.

As for the Fever, Clark finished the 2026 regular season averaging 22.3 points, 8.3 assists, and 4.0 rebounds in 40 games. She also played in all three of Indiana’s playoff games against Las Vegas.

Her connection to Iowa will remain visible this weekend. Clark is scheduled to appear as the celebrity guest picker on ESPN’s “College GameDay” ahead of Iowa’s matchup with Ohio State.
