The Dallas Cowboys dropped a 34-31 game to the Baltimore Ravens as part of a trip to Brazil that included a demand from coach Brian Schottenheimer. An outrageous Tyler Loops field goal ended the Cowboys' trip on a sour note as Schottenheimer found himself squarely on the hot seat.
The ‘Fire Schottenheimer' posts started multiplying on X as fans began to add their two cents.
“(If the) Cowboys don't fire Schottenheimer tomorrow, (that) tells me all I need to know about the Jones family's desire to win,” one fan named John wrote. “That was one of the worst coached drives and games I've seen in a long time from a 25 year in league coach. Terrible.”
Another criticized Schottenheimer's handling of the clock.
“Cowboys are an absolute dumpster fire. Complete clock mismanagement by Schottenheimer, clueless play making by Dak and some ole (bad) defense,” another named Bourbon Reaper said.
“Please fire Schottenheimer. No one hired him for 30 years for a reason. So many dumb coaching decisions,” another named C Cook wrote.
“Fire Schottenheimer. Coaching malpractice. I'm so serious,” another named Y2Shadows said.
“You have to fire Schottenheimer after this. One of the worst coached/called games in 10 years. That's not an exaggeration,” another added.
Concerns about the field conditions were amplified by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones as fans began strongly questioning Schottenheimer's fitness as head coach.
The Cowboys are now 1-2 on the season after they outgained the Ravens 415 yards to 378 but still lost. Dallas committed seven penalties and lost one fumble while Dak Prescott completed 14 passes to star receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.
Schottenheimer earned the support of Cowboys legends including Michael Irvin before the season, but that goodwill only goes so far when a team doesn't win football games. Schottenheimer was a bit of an outside-the-box choice for Cowboys head coach despite his familiar last name, now he needs to live up to it and start winning high profile games before his team in Big D is over and done.
