Alabama football blew out Mississippi State in Week 5 action that included insane highlight reel plays from QB Keelon Russell. The 56-23 win included a jaw-dropping catch from Ryan Coleman-Williams and led to commentary from former NFL QB Chase Daniel on Coleman-Williams' quarterback.

Daniel called Mississippi State one of the surprise teams in the SEC but then turned his focus to Russell's huge day.

“This performance today by Keelon Russel should put him in the national conversation,” Daniel said about the Alabama starting quarterback.

Daniel sung Russell's praises prior to the game and he made him look good in a huge road SEC win.

“Keelon Russell is playing about as good as anyone in the entire country right now…Nine touchdowns in the last two weeks, he's played extremely comfortable,” Daniel said before the game. “When you really dive into the film these last two weeks, it's been impressive.”

Russell completed 16-of-22 passes for 285 yards and three touchdowns while also running for another score. He outplayed the Bulldogs' Kamario Taylor, who was forced into two interceptions by the Crimson Tide defense.

Russell has embraced the daily grind, and pressure, that comes along with being the starting quarterback in Tuscaloosa. He revealed recently that Los Angeles Rams QB and NFL Draft pick Ty Simpson helped him prepare for the starting role.

Russell's team looks like the class of the SEC so far along with the Texas Longhorns, at 5-0 headed toward college football's stretch run. The former five-star prospect is living up to his enormous high school billing, and it's only a matter of time before the college football world starts to take notice.
