On Saturday night, LSU will visit Ole Miss, which means Lane Kiffin will be returning to Oxford for the first time since leaving his former job. As the two teams prepare to face each other, there has been a ton of back-and-forth between the schools, fans, players, and coaches. Recently, Ole Miss AD Keith Carter fired at Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry for some of his remarks about Kiffin.

Now, a former Ole Miss dean of students is calling for Kiffin to be suspended over his attempt to bring in players fresh off NFL rosters, per Joe Rexrode of The Athletic.

“I think what the SEC should do is suspend Lane Kiffin for the next three games, including ours,” said Sparky Reardon. “That would tamp down the vitriol a little bit. I don’t know. It’s such a mess.”

Reardon went to Ole Miss, graduating in 1972, and was a sports editor for the Daily Mississippian. He would later earn his Ph.D. from the university while also serving in multiple roles with the school. Reardon took over as the Dean of Students in 2000, staying in that role until retiring in 2014.  He is not the only one who is focused on Kiffin, but some associated with the team think Kiffin just needs to be ignored.

“My hope is that everyone ignores him — that would be worse for him than anything,” said Harry Harrison, who is a former player and also the color analyst on Ole Miss radio broadcasts.

Head coach Pete Golding has also made comments about Kiffin returning, along with multiple other players and coaches. LSU and Ole Miss kick off at 7:30 pm ET on Saturday.
