Preston North End have parted ways with head coach Paul Heckingbottom.
The decision comes after Preston's 1-0 home defeat to Lincoln City on Saturday, a result that leaves the Lilywhites in 23rd place in the Championship with just three points.
"Preston North End Football Club have today taken the decision to part company with Paul Heckingbottom as First Team Football Manager," a statement read on the club's official website.
"Football is a results business and despite significant investment in the playing squad since Paul joined, the results during 2026 and the start of this current campaign have not been acceptable.
"Paul leaves us with our thanks and best wishes. His professionalism and work ethic during his time with us have been second to none.
"As a result of this decision Stuart McCall has also left the Club today. We similarly thank Stuart for his contribution over the last two years and wish him all the best for the future."
The club also confirmed that Premier League cult hero Jason Euell, who enjoyed successful top flight spells with Wimbledon and Charlton, will be in interim charge.
The statement added: "We will now look to appoint a new manager as soon as possible but until such time as we do Jason Euell will take charge of first team matters on an interim basis."
Heckingbottom has overseen just seven wins from 29 games since the start of 2026.
The weekend's results leave Preston just a point off safety.
Euell, meanwhile, takes on his first managerial role since retiring as a player in 2012.
The 49-year-old started working on his coaching badges with Charlton Athletic in 2011.
And in 2013, he took over the U21s for the first time and acted as caretaker assistant manager in 2021.
Euell left his role at The Valley in 2022, before moving to Bristol City that same year.
However, the former striker left in 2023 and took up a position as Cambridge United assistant head coach in 2024.
Euell, however, left Cambridge for Preston last summer, making the move to Lancashire as a first-team coach.
And Euell's first game as interim boss will be a trip to Queen's Park Rangers next weekend ahead of the international break.
