Eddie Hearn believes Conor Benn's crushing defeat to Ryan Garcia could mark the final chapter of his professional boxing career.

Benn was halted inside two rounds by WBC welterweight champion Garcia last weekend in a disastrous end to his first world title tilt.

Before the bout, Benn had suggested he would be moving up to 160lbs after enduring a gruelling weight cut to make the 147lbs limit.

However, the manner of his loss to Garcia has left his career in a precarious position.

Benn told his 3.1million Instagram followers earlier this week that he 'doesn't have answers for what is next'.

And now, former long-time promoter Hearn, who had Benn pinched from him by Dana White in February, has had his say.

Eddie Hearn's first reaction to Conor Benn's defeat

Giving his first reaction to 'The Destroyer's' devastating setback, Hearn told iFL TV on Wednesday: “Do you know what’s mad? I watched Misfits.

"I didn’t watch Conor Benn because I just went to bed.

“My last few predictions were that I thought Ryan Garcia would win inside three rounds…

"I just felt [Conor Benn] looked lost, I don’t know, he didn’t really look like himself.

"And in the ring he looked all over the place. He looked like a rabbit in headlights.

“Listen, Conor Benn will be done in the next year or so; he may have one more fight, who knows; he may not even fight again.

"He’s made his money. Yeah, I do [think he’ll have either one more fight or retire now].

"I think he wants his money, and he’s made a load of money; what else is there?

“He’s not gonna beat anyone of any significance at 160lbs, so what are you in the game for?

"He’s in the game to make money, and he’s done that.

“I don’t think he’s gonna wanna hang around in the sport of boxing; he’s got other interests, he’s got a family.”

Despite the loss, Benn is not short of options.

WBO middleweight champion Denzel Bentley recently opened the door to defending his belt against the 29-year-old, while a trilogy bout with Chris Eubank Jr at 168lbs remains a possibility.
