Howie Roseman and the Philadelphia Eagles are never satisfied with an already loaded roster.
Philadelphia is finalizing a deal with former Indianapolis Colts cornerback Kenny Moore II, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. The two sides are expected to agree to a one-year contract worth up to $3 million. The Eagles reportedly plan to utilize the veteran at both safety and nickel corner.
That's a role Moore should have little trouble adjusting to.
The 30-year-old spent nine seasons with Indianapolis and established himself as one of the NFL's premier slot defenders during the prime of his career. Moore earned his first Pro Bowl selection in 2021 and remained a valuable piece of the Colts' secondary before the two sides parted ways during the offseason.
Moore totaled 649 tackles, 11.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, and 21 interceptions across 132 games with the Colts. He returned four of those interceptions for touchdowns and was also a four-time team captain. Now he gets an opportunity to contribute to an NFC contender.
The Eagles have opened the season 2-0 after surviving close games against the Washington Commanders and Tennessee Titans. The Eagles haven't necessarily dominated their opponents, but they remain one of the NFL's deepest teams and continue to add proven veterans.
Moore provides defensive coordinator Vic Fangio with another versatile option in the secondary. He's comfortable covering receivers from the slot, has always been a willing tackler, and now could receive additional snaps at safety.
For an Eagles team with Super Bowl aspirations, adding a former Pro Bowler with 111 career starts is exactly the type of depth move that could become important later in the season.
Philly also signed former star tight end Zach Ertz to the practice squad on Monday.
