Amid concerns about his hamstring, Saquon Barkley was active for the Philadelphia Eagles' Monday Night Football matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. Not only that, but the running back scored a touchdown to end the teams's first quarter scoring drought.
However, Barkley's night could be over prematurely due to another injury. Per Mike Garafolo, Barkley is questionable to return due to a back injury.
Barkley has already recorded seven rushes for 62 yards a touchdown, as well as two catches for nine yards. He played one snap in the second half and has not returned to the field since.
Barkley was spotted lying on the ground while having some work done with the training staff. The back and the hamstring are closely connected, so it would not be a surprise if Barkley's back issue has something to do with his lingering hamstring problem.
Article Continues BelowThe Eagles are already under fire for their handling of quarterback Jalen Hurts' blood clot situation. With that in mind, it would make sense for them to exercise utmost caution with Barkley and his current injury situation. The Eagles don't realistically don't have much left to play for this season, so allowing an already compromised Barkley to continue playing in a game they are already trailing in would be unwise.
If Barkley is in fact done for the game, Dameon Pierce will continue as the Eagles' primary running back. Pierce has gotten the lion's share of carries against the Cowboys and has also scored a rushing touchdown in the game.
