Coach Nick Sirianni's Philadelphia Eagles are hobbling into Week 6's home game against the Carolina Panthers with star WR DeVonta Smith among the walking wounded. The team has also dealt with injuries to star running back Saquon Barkley and star quarterback Jalen Hurts, both of whom got injury updates ahead of the contest from ESPN reporter Adam Schefter.

Shefter shared an update about the Eagles' star duo as he broke the bad news.

Both Barkley and Hurts are listed as “out” for the game on the Eagles' injury report as neither player practiced leading up to the game.

Hurts gutted out a 220-yard, one touchdown passing game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, England during Week 6 action. He didn't have Barkley with him on the field and instead relied on Dameon Pierce, who is healthy going into Week 6, and Will Shipley, who was also listed out for the Panthers game.

Hurts has a scary blood clot issue that will force him to sit out, giving former Stanford Cardinal starter and Eagles backup QB Tanner McKee a chance to start an NFL game for the third time in his career. McKee has a 1-1 career record as a starter with 597 yards passing, five touchdowns and one interception. He was taken in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft and has had time to learn and work his way up through Sirianni's system.

The Panthers are coming off of a bye week and three straight wins including a 32-26 prime time victory over the Detroit Lions on October 4. Sirianni's offense looks like it has an uphill battle on its hands without Barkley and Hurts, but McKee has proven himself capable in the past.
