The Eagles have created some cap space for this season and next season.
The team has restructured the contract of linebacker Nolan Smith. Spotrac reports that converting $1.24 million of his 2026 salary created $992,000 in cap space for the rest of this season.
Smith also had $12.5 million of his salary for 2027 â the Eagles exercised their fifth-year option on his rookie deal â converted to a bonus. That move opened up $10 million in cap space for next season.
The Eagles may or may not have their eye on making an immediate addition to the roster, but the restructuring gives the that option and the extra cap space in 2027 can help General Manager Howie Roseman structure things in a way that keeps the Eagles in compliance with the cap now and in the future.
