Jalen Hurts remains the Philadelphia Eagles' unquestioned No. 1 quarterback, but following the team's disappointing loss to the Chicago Bears, the situation behind him appears to be under evaluation once again. Head coach Nick Sirianni is still unwilling to confirm whether Andy Dalton will continue as the team's primary backup quarterback.

Sirianni remained noncommittal during his Wednesday press conference when asked whether Dalton would retain the QB2 role for the Eagles' Week 4 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.

“I have a lot of faith in both of those guys. Obviously what happened in the game, we don't want turnovers by anybody. I still have faith with Tanner, I still have faith in Andy,” Sirianni said via Tim McManus of ESPN.

Sirianni's response left the door open for competition between Dalton and Tanner McKee. The uncertainty comes after Philadelphia's Week 3 Monday Night Football matchup against Chicago, where the Eagles suffered a 27-7 loss.

Dalton's performance during a crucial stretch of the game appears to have contributed to the ongoing questions surrounding the backup quarterback position. Hurts was briefly forced to leave the game and visit the blue medical tent after taking an illegal hit out of bounds.

With the Eagles' starting quarterback temporarily sidelined, Dalton was called upon to take over and guide the offense. However, Dalton struggled to make the most of the opportunity and committed a costly mistake when he threw an interception during the second quarter.

Dalton joined the Eagles after spending the previous three seasons with the Carolina Panthers. The Eagles viewed the veteran as someone capable of providing stability and an experienced presence behind Hurts.

Dalton ultimately won the No. 2 quarterback job over McKee after the two quarterbacks competed throughout training camp. However, Sirianni's latest comments indicate that the competition may not be completely settled as Philadelphia prepares for its Week 4 matchup.
