With the Alabama football team preparing for a title against the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday, one player won't be around as he is no longer with the team. As Alabama footbal reportedly suspended defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. for one game, the program has now announed that he has been kicked off the team.
In a statement made by Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer, he would say that Kirkparick will “no longer be a part” of the team after learning more information on his situation.
“After gathering more information on the situation, Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. will no longer be a part of our program,” DeBoer said in a statement, via ESPN. “He did not live up to the standards and expectations that I have set for this team and our players.”
The situation at hand stems from Kirkpatrick “allegedly threatening communications with a police officer,” per ESPN, as he is now facing misdemeanor chargers because of it.
More on Alabama football and Dre Kirkpatrick Jr.
It was reported that Kirkpatrick, son of former NFL player Dre Kirkpatrick Sr., was arrested Friday after charges were made against him for “doxing and harassing communications with a police officer involved in his arrest in 2025.”
“The veteran defensive back allegedly sent the officer a profanity-laced message that included, ‘text me back don't be no b—-!,' according to documents obtained by WBRC and The Tuscaloosa Thread,” ESPN's Alex Scarborough wrote. “Kirkpatrick allegedly posted a photo of the officer and his family to his Facebook page with the caption, ‘Dis him?'”
This isn't the first time Kirkpatrick has gotten into legal trouble while with the Alabama football team as he was arrested in 2025 for reckless endangerment where he attempted to “elude and speeding.” That led to a suspension that lasted seven games of last season, but played in the last seven games of this current season, as he's been a second-string cornerback.
At any rate, he's recorded five tackles, one pass breakup, and one forced fumble this season, as the Crimson Tide will now focus on the Aggies for Saturday, as the team is 6-2.
