The Los Angeles Dodgers, who will face the Atlanta Braves in the National League Division Series beginning on Saturday, acquired pitcher Tarik Skubal from the Detroit Tigers in a blockbuster early August trade.
The Dodgers hope Skubal, the back-to-back reigning American League Cy Young Award winner, will help them become the first team since the New York Yankees, over a quarter century ago, to win three straight World Series titles.
In his short time with the Dodgers, Skubal has grown close to new teammate Blake Snell, which fellow teammate Tyler Glasnow jokingly referred to as “love at first sight”.

They're two good personalities; they're both really funny. And I think they're both just competitors. And they learn from each other. It's like a foundation for a nice, blossoming friendship. But they're both the best. Everyone knows how good of a teammate Skubal is, and he cares about his teammates, and Blake's the same way. And it's just been like a nice melding of minds, I guess.”
Since joining the Dodgers via trade from the Tigers, Skubal has recorded a 2.61 ERA and 1.05 WHIP across 62 innings in 10 starts. Skubal can become an unrestricted free agent following the current season, and he's expected to command potentially upwards of $400 million on his next contract through his agent, Scott Boras.
The Dodgers will play the Braves in Game 1 beginning on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. ET from Dodger Stadium.
