Chris Sale still found a way to contribute to the Atlanta Braves on Thursday, and he did so in historic fashion. Despite pitching in Game 1 of the National League Wild Card Round Series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday, Sale found another gear to help close out the series for Atlanta.

Sale entered Game 3 of the series at Truist Park in Atlanta in the eighth inning and pitched the rest of the way, as the Braves eliminated the Phillies with a 6-2 victory.

With his performance, Sale became just the fourth pitcher in postseason history of the big leagues to be at least 37 years & 185 days old and “appear on 1 or 0 days rest after going 6+ innings,” according to Sarah Langs of MLB.com.
