On Thursday afternoon, the Los Angeles Dodgers picked up a blowout 8-2 road win over the Cincinnati Reds, avenging their loss from the previous evening. The win officially clinched the NL West for the Dodgers for the 13th time in the last 14 years as they gear up to try to win a third straight World Series championship this fall.

According to Sarah Langs of the MLB, the win gives the Dodgers 24 division titles since divisions began in the 1969 season, which passes the Atlanta Braves for the most of any MLB organization, per Langs on X, formerly Twitter.

The major caveat is that the Braves are currently in the driver's seat to win the NL East this year, so that record likely won't stand for much longer, and the two teams will move back into a tie.

Still, it's an impressive accomplishment, especially considering that the bulk of those division titles have come in the last two decades, with Los Angeles putting together roster after roster filled with star talent, drawing the ire of the rest of the baseball world in the process and generating calls for the league to implement a salary cap.

The Dodgers have won the last two World Series championships, having to rally from a 3-2 deficit to knock off the Toronto Blue Jays last fall, and will hope to add a third straight, and fourth in the last seven years, when the MLB playoffs begin next month.

In the meantime, Los Angeles will next hit the field on Friday evening vs the San Francisco Giants at home.
