The Los Angeles Dodgers' bid for a World Series three-peat came to a shocking end as they suffered a sweep at the hands of the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Championship Series. But don't feel too bad for the Dodgers, who are well-positioned to build back up thanks to their strong farm system. MLB.com ranked it No. 1 in its farm system rankings in August.

However, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic points out that Dodgers president Andrew Friedman does have a bit of a problem in that many of their top prospects are outfielders. Top prospect Josue De Paula already played 11 games this year and made their playoff roster. Meanwhile, their No. 2 and No. 3-ranked prospects per MLB.com (Eduardo Quintero and Mike Sirota) are also outfielders.

That means they will need to open up a spot on the roster to get those prospects playing time next season. Rosenthal posited that trading left fielder Teoscar Hernandez would be the solution to the Dodgers' roster dilemma.

Hernandez has been a consistent contributor since arriving in LA in 2024. However, the 34-year-old's numbers have been declining. From 33 home runs and 99 RBIs in his debut year, Hernandez had a more modest 16 homers with 64 RBIs this past season. Moreover, Hernandez is coming off quite a disappointing postseason campaign where he hit just .200 with one home run in eight games.

The Dodgers' roster is currently filled with mostly veteran players, which was clear to see against the Brewers' more youthful and dynamic outfielders. With that in mind, it would make sense to move on from a veteran like Hernandez in order to inject some youth and spark into a team that needs some refreshing after multiple long playoff runs.
