The Los Angeles Dodgers find themselves in a must-win situation in Game 3 of their NLCS series against the Milwaukee Brewers, having dropped the first two games of the series on the road. There was some buzz that the Dodgers might consider benching Shohei Ohtani in this series amid his prolonged struggles and injury concerns, but no such move has been made ahead of Game 3.

This prompted a reaction from MLB insider Katie Woo of The Athletic.

“Clearly, this is not a healthy Shohei Ohtani. To me, it's not just mechanics. It's not just timing… I'm not sure the Dodgers have better options on their bench… I don't think you're going to trust Jose de Paula, with all respect to who he is as a player, over any percentage of Shohei Ohtani,” she said, per Foul Territory on X, formerly Twitter.

Indeed, despite their immense star power, the Dodgers aren't exactly flush with options in their dugout to help replace the multi-time league MVP. Ohtani dealt with injury concerns throughout this season that caused him to be removed from the pitching rotation, and he has been in a major slump during these playoffs, clearly not operating anywhere close to 100 percent.

This has threatened to cut the Dodgers' season short as they look to secure a third straight World Series championship, having defeated the Atlanta Braves in four games in the NLCS and now finding themselves up against the ropes in their series against the Brewers.

In any case, Game 3 of the Dodgers vs Brewers series is slated to get underway on Wednesday at 8:00 pm ET from Los Angeles.
