The Los Angeles Dodgers are one loss away from being swept out of the National League Championship Series, and Miguel Rojas is pointing the finger squarely at the lineup. The Milwaukee Brewers beat Los Angeles 6-2 in Game 3 on Wednesday at Dodger Stadium, taking a 3-0 series lead and putting the two-time defending champions on the brink of elimination.

Speaking to MLB Network after the game, the veteran infielder made it clear that the pitching staff has not been the problem.

“We have an amazing pitching staff. It’s really hard to pitch when you have no run support. That’s on us,” Rojas said. “Offensively, we haven’t done what we’re supposed to do to keep building momentum . . . when we have opportunities with runners on base.”

The numbers back him up. Los Angeles has scored just seven runs in three games, and it has yet to hit a home run in the series.

The Dodgers managed only one run in a 2-1 loss in Game 1, when Tarik Skubal kept them in the game but the offense went 1-for-5 with runners in scoring position. In Game 2, Los Angeles scored four times but collected just three hits in a 7-4 defeat, and none of its runs came on a hit. The Dodgers went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position that night, dropping to 2-for-26 in those spots for the postseason.

Game 3 followed a similar script. Los Angeles got runners on base in all but three innings but scored only twice, with both runs coming on a Will Smith two-run double in the sixth. Shohei Ohtani, meanwhile, batted sixth, the lowest he has hit in the order since joining the Dodgers.

That lack of production has wasted some strong pitching efforts. Blake Snell retired 14 straight Brewers on Wednesday before Jake Bauers and Garrett Mitchell went back-to-back in the seventh.

Milwaukee’s bullpen deserves plenty of credit, too. The Brewers’ relievers retired all 15 Dodgers they faced in Game 2 and entered Game 3 with a 0.31 ERA this postseason.

Los Angeles has trailed 3-0 in a best-of-seven postseason series only once before, in the 1966 World Series against the Baltimore Orioles. The Dodgers will need their bats to wake up immediately in Game 4 on Thursday.
