Delaware State head coach DeSean Jackson is responding after criticism of his work habits as a coach. Jackson is currently in his second season leading Delaware State, and in a recent appearance on the Da Get Got Pod with Marshawn Lynch and Mike Robinson, he let it be known how he handles his in-office schedule as a coach.

“I get in at 6:30 [a.m.], and I leave at 2 [p.m.],” he said. “I tell my coaches, just because you're there all day doesn't mean nothing. You can still get out-schemed, you can still get out-worked. I'm not one of those coaches who says, ‘We've got to be there at eight in the morning or six in the morning to 10 at night. Get in, get your work done, and when you're done, get up out of there, man. I don't really believe in all that, bro. You can get your work done and get home to your family, because I'm not going to be there all day.”

That drew an interesting response from Richmond head coach Russ Huesman, who criticized Jackson's approach.

“I don't care what he says. Go ahead and figure it out. Go home at 2:00, you're not winning. You may win a game, but no way. No way.”

On Monday's MEAC coaches call, Jackson responded to the criticism and explained that while he leaves the office at 2 pm, his workday typically doesn't end till 10 pm.

“You say anything, man, it’s clickbait…I’m there. I’m present. I’m always there. You know, I’m not absent. My schedule is my schedule. It works well for me.”

He then appeared to respond directly to Huesman.

“I did hear a few people kind of saying, ‘Oh, he’s not going to have success like that and he’s not going to do well with that.' So if that’s their feelings, I just feel like they need to worry about their own business and don’t worry about my schedule and what Coach Jack does.”
