Dan Campbell is sounding off on Ben Johnson's comment about Jared Goff's mobility. After the Bears defeated the Eagles with backup quarterback Case Keenum 27-7 on Monday Night Football, Johnson was asked about preparing for a quarterback that's more of a pocket passer versus a quarterback that can make plays with his legs.
Dan Campbell was asked — on the heels of Ben Johnson's comment — if he sees Jared Goff's mobility as a hindrance.
"No. Goff's game is cerebral. He's prototype, he can see, he's got a big arm, and he's an accurate passer," he said on Wednesday.

Johnson, who served as an offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions from 2022 to 2024, took a playful shot at Jared Goff.
“Well, I've got a little history with that, of calling plays for someone not so mobile.”
This led Dan Campbell to step up to defend his starting QB.

He then went on to attribute much of the Lions' success to Goff's ability as a pocket passer.
“That’s his game, and he is damn good at it. I don’t feel like that is a hindrance. We run the offense we run, and we are very good at it because of Jared Goff.”
Goff himself also responded to Johnson's comments on Amon-Ra St. Brown's podcast, saying that he felt as if there were no ill intentions behind what was said.
“Ben can’t seem to get out of his own way when he’s talking to the media. So, I know there was no ill intent to that. But, you know, he seems to be a lightning rod for them. They pick up everything he says. It’s funny. He messaged me, he called me this morning and was like, ‘Dude, you know that means nothing.’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, dude. You’re good. Don’t worry about it.”
