Turns out New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is dealing with more than a bad shoulder. He's overhearing rumors involving a rift between he and coach Mike Vrabel. All amid the Patriots' slow start before facing the undefeated Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
Vrabel took care of his part in shutting down the rumored tensions, though. Now the AFC champion quarterback addressed the issue with reporters Wednesday.
“Coach Vrabel has been one of the best coaches I’ve ever had in my life. I love playing for him,” Maye said at the podium.
So Maye adds his own context to the matter. By basically shooting down any reports of a coach/quarterback feud.

Maye's not the only key injury the Patriots are dealing with. Same with All-Pro cornerback Christian Gonzalez, who's dealing with his own shoulder injury. Gonzalez was not a practice participant on Wednesday.
Maye, meanwhile, rose as a full participant which makes him on track to lead the offense against their AFC East rival. Sunday's showdown pits the last two division winners against one another. Although the Bills have long shown aspirations of creating their own Patriots-like run, including finally winning the franchise's first-ever Vince Lombardi Trophy.
New England fans have solace in the fact that there's no beef between quarterback and head coach. Yet still, this team immediately faces a desperation game before the season further unravels.
