Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert has been in the league long enough that he understands how the business works.
Asked after today’s loss to the Giants whether he might be traded before Tuesday’s deadline, Goedert acknowledged that it’s possible.
“Obviously, there’s always a chance in this league. Comes down to this trade deadline, but no. I think I got about enough problems for today. Try not to worry about tomorrow,” Goedert said.
Goedert said he and General Manager Howie Roseman have discussed his future.
“I talked to Howie briefly a couple weeks ago and we had a good conversation,” Goedert said. “Obviously, anything can change. For the right price, everybody’s available, so we’ll see what happens. But I’m not too worried about it.”
Goedert is right about that. For all the reports about certain players not being available, what that actually means is that the player’s team hasn’t received a good enough offer to make him available. Goedert knows that if the Eagles get a good enough offer, they’ll trade him. But he says he can’t worry about things outside his control.
“I love this city,” Goedert said. “I always dreamt of retiring here. So we’ll see what happens, but anything that’s out of my control, I try not to worry about.”
