Ass interference.
We got to see a lot more of Dallas Goedert than expected on Sunday cause to a penalty which has best be described as “ass interference.”
Panthers rookie Will Lee allowed the tight end to get a step on him, and also Goedert’s tight end to make it past him. At that point he needed to make some sort of attempt to stop a wide-open pass, and pantsing him felt like a good idea — for some reason.
This was called defensive pass interference, as you’d expect — and then on replay the announcers realized that there was complete butt on display for everyone to see. Never really seen a penalty like this one before, and it made Goedert the butt of some jokes, with there being a hefty amount of “full moon” gags.
The Eagles would score on the following play thanks to the penalty, meaning this was a rare butt-based touchdown.
