Dallas Mavericks star Cooper Flagg got rave reviews from one of his veteran teammates. Mavericks forward PJ Washington spoke highly of Flagg's development and level of play, comments obtained by Dallas Mavericks beat writer Ron Harrod Jr.
“I think for him he's been doing a great job of just being himself and we're kind of playing off of him. So he's able to make plays. He's able to take his shots. He's able to be versatile on both ends of the floor.”
PJ Washington is set to be a huge contributor for the Mavericks alongside Flagg this season. Mavericks head coach Dusty May floated that Washington could be returning to the starting lineup alongside Flagg and a returning Kyrie Irving.

Washington landed with the Dallas Mavericks via trade during the 2023-24 season and went on to play a key role on their 2024 NBA Finals team. He remained in Dallas through the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons, though injuries limited him in both. Even so, he averaged 14.2 points, seven rebounds, 1.1 blocks and a steal last season while shooting 45% from the field.
But Flagg also showcased his talent in his rookie season with the Mavericks. Flagg played 70 games for the team during his Rookie of the Year campaign. He averaged 21 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.2 steals while shooting 46.8% from the field. Now Flagg looks to take the team to the next level and return them to their championship contender status in year two.
