The Chicago Cubs were able to defeat the Miami Marlins 2-1, and that led them to clinch the playoffs this season. Funny enough, the Chicago White Sox were also able to clinch a playoff berth minutes later.
“Within a couple minutes of each other, the Chicago Cubs and White Sox both clinched a berth in the postseason. It's just the 3rd time they've both made the playoffs in the same year. 2008 and 1906 were the other two instances,” ESPN's Jesse Rogers wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Rogers did have a small typo in the above tweet, as they both made the postseason during the COVID season.
