Cowboys RB Malik Davis is out for the year after hip surgery

When Cowboys running back Malik Davis suffered a serious hip injury on Friday, Cowboys exec Stephen Jones said Davis will be out “some period of time.”

That period of time will be the entire season.

Via Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News, Davis will miss the year after having surgery to repair his hip injury on Saturday.

Also on Saturday, Davis was placed on injured reserve. The Cowboys elevated Israel Abanikanda to take Davis’s roster spot. Emari Demarcado is the other tailback behind starter Javonte Williams.

The 27-year-old Davis has appeared in 25 regula-season games, with no starts. He was slated to be the primary backup to Williams.
