The Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers both had ugly starts to the 2026-27 campaign, as they each fell 0-1 in Week 1. However, the two organizations bounced back in a big way in Week 2. Dallas got the victory over the Washington Commanders with a 37-20 win, while Green Bay narrowly defeated the New York Jets in overtime 20-17.

Getting back in the win column was ideal for two franchises speculated to be playoff contenders this year. To be fair, both teams have question marks heading into Week 3 of the season. The jury is still out on the Dallas defense. Perhaps time can change the playoff odds for the Cowboys, though. Jerry Jones and the front office added several new faces to that side of the ball during the offseason. More playing time and experience together is the key to unlocking that defense.

As for Green Bay, the club has played sloppy football to begin the new campaign. The Packers have committed 26 penalties in the first two games. That's a league-high that has already cost the team 231 penalty yards. Additionally, the offense hasn't been nearly as efficient as last season, and injuries are plaguing the roster right now.

Both clubs will have a chance to change their playoff odds in Week 3. The Cowboys are scheduled to take on the Baltimore Ravens in Dallas. Meanwhile, the Packers have a short week, as they will face off against the Atlanta Falcons in a “Thursday Night Football” matchup.
