The Dallas Cowboys suffered another painful loss after bowing to the Baltimore Ravens, 34-31, on Sunday at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The Cowboys failed to stop Lamar Jackson in the final minute, allowing the Ravens to escape with the three-point win via Tyler Loop's 56-yard field goal, which punctuated a clutch last-gasp drive.
Coach Brian Schottenheimer admitted that they were “hurting” after blowing another winnable outing and shouldered the blame for the late-game blunders. Schottenheimer revealed to ESPN's Todd Archer that he and owner Jerry Jones had a constructive chat about the critical errors.
“I'm man enough to take mistakes. I make a lot of mistakes. I'm certainly not perfect. I know one thing: Jerry and I had a very good conversation about it. I explained it. He understands. He understands that there was a mistake that was made, and he was terrific,” said Schottenheimer.
The 52-year-old coach added that he received “sound advice” from the 83-year-old Jones, who has remained hands-on with the Cowboys despite his age.
“He's been around the game a long time, just like I have, and he's seen a lot of stuff. So, to me, that shows that he and I are aligned very closely. This will make me better. I'll be better,” added Schottenheimer, who was promoted by Jones in 2025.
The Cowboys went back and forth with the Ravens in front of a crowd of nearly 73,000. But ultimately, they failed to close it out and fell to 1-2.
Dak Prescott went 25-of-40 for 276 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Javonte Williams had 19 carries for 98 yards and one touchdown.
Dallas will visit the Houston Texans in Week 4.
