The Washington Commanders face a tough opponent, and Dan Quinn is done talking about last week. Furthermore, his receiver room still has a key injury. Stefon Diggs is absent from practice before the 49ers game, according to a post on X by Nicki Jhanvala.
The Commanders haven’t been productive at the wide receiver position in 2026. However, Diggs has been their best. He had 18 catches for 170 yards and three scores in four games. Terry McLaurin has 14 catches for 203 yards and a score.
Commanders could use a win
Unfortunately, it’s going to be tough without Diggs on the field. Quarterback Jayden Daniels will have to work a lot of magic. One thing Daniels said he will take care of is to avoid any more mental gaffes, according to ESPN.
“I let guys know it'll never happen again,” Daniels said he told players during an offensive team meeting Monday, “and we're going to move forward.
“I'm moving on to San Francisco. I can't say it's not warranted because of what happened. Everybody has opinions to speak, and rightfully so. So can't stop nobody from saying their opinion or anything like that. It's just about my process and moving forward and learning from it.”
Daniels tried to shield Quinn and other coaches from criticism.
“Don't even put it on the coaches,” Daniels said. “I've got to be aware, more aware, go out there and manage the game right. And I did not do that. So it doesn't matter what happens on the sideline between the coaches or anything like that. I've got to notice everything that's happening and make sure that we're in the right situation with the football game.

Daniels’ teammates apparently still believe in his poise.
“Jayden's pretty cool, calm, collected,” said guard Sam Cosmi. “He's even keel for the most part; his emotions don't waver as much.”
