The Washington Commanders came into the season with questions at wide receiver, and it looks like they solved them after signing Stefon Diggs. Now, they may be back asking those same questions with Terry McLaurin out for the rest of the season after a torn patellar tendon.

With the trade deadline approaching, they have a chance to make a move, and the thought of Brandon Aiyuk has come up again. According to ESPN's Dan Graziano, that's probably not going to happen.

“The Commanders have looked around for wide receiver help at the trade deadline, but I do not expect them to be in the market for Brandon Aiyuk, who recently hired a new agent to help orchestrate his long-overdue exit from San Francisco,” Graziano wrote. “Washington was the team many had connected with Aiyuk during last offseason's drama. He played with Commanders QB Jayden Daniels at Arizona State years ago, and he referenced his desire to play for the Commanders in several social media posts over the summer.

“But he said a lot of other things in those social media posts that turned teams off, and specifically some things about Daniels and his mother that make it unlikely a reunion ends up happening there.”

Aiyuk recently filed for reinstatement, and he plans to be back at the San Francisco 49ers' training facility this week. The 49ers placed him on the reserve/left squad list after he stopped showing up to the facility last season as he rehabbed from a knee injury that he suffered in 2024. Throughout that time of not showing up, he would go on social media and criticize the 49ers.

With Aiyuk filing for reinstatement, the 49ers could handle this situation in several ways. They could let him play, release him, or trade him before the deadline.
