The Washington Commanders ended Week 5 with a 27-27 tie with the New York Giants. Usually, that's not the worst thing to happen in a football game. However, the team was within field goal range and failed to stop the clock before time expired. It was a total mismanagement of time that could have been prevented. After the game, head coach Dan Quinn opened up about who was to blame for the big mistake.

During his postgame press conference, the 56-year-old blamed himself for the Commanders' overtime blunder, according to JP Finlay of NBC Sports. Quinn admitted the tie feels like a gut-punch for the team, considering a win was within their grasp.

“We pride ourselves on those moments at the end of the game,” Quinn said. “After the first down run, still trying to gain more for the kick. Right call, honestly, is we can go clock it early and don't put ourselves in that spot, and that is my responsibility. Nobody else's. I'm gutted for our team.”

The Commanders are now 1-3-1 on the season. While the result was not what Washington was hoping for, the silver lining, at least, is that Jayden Daniels looked like his regular self against the Giants. The former first-round pick ended the game with 199 passing yards while completing 68.0% of his pass attempts. He showed off his athleticism on the ground, too, leading his team with 103 rushing yards and two scores on the ground.

Dan Quinn and his Commanders will have a chance to correct the mistakes in Week 6. The club is set to take on the San Francisco 49ers on the road in a primetime “Monday Night Football” matchup on October 19.
