Oklahoma football entered the Cotton Bowl already written off for being unranked. But the Sooners rearranged the top 25 rankings anyway in stunning former No. 1 Texas 27-24 Saturday. Which even fired up OU legend Gerald McCoy.
The defensive lineman and past high NFL Draft pick trolled his former rival in relentless fashion after the game. McCoy posted this selfie and caption calling out the Longhorns.
“Cry me a river punks!! ZERO days since OU has scored a TD and ZERO DAYS SINCE THAT L YALL JUST TOOK!!” McCoy posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter.

Oklahoma fell from the top 25 following an embarrassing beatdown at the hands of Georgia. The same Bulldogs team that's now ranked No. 1 in the nation by virtue of the Sooners' upset. Oklahoma also previously lost to unranked Michigan at Ann Arbor during week two of the 2026 season.
Article Continues BelowTexas came in expected to have little trouble with Oklahoma. Especially with quarterback John Mateer off to a slow start and Oklahoma's defense struggling, which is coach Brent Venables' area of expertise.
But Oklahoma looked nothing like the program that bottomed out against Georgia, or the one that struggled against Michigan and even New Mexico, the latter a non-Power Conference representative. OU leaned into creating takeaways against Arch Manning of Texas by picking him off twice. Including the second one that helped set up the walk-off field goal from Tate Sandell.
OU mustered only 238 total yards too, featuring just 155 passing yards from Mateer who also finished with -6 rushing yards. But the Sooners' victory sparked thousands to millions of energized Sooner fans. Including one school legend in McCoy.
