On Tuesday, the Indianapolis Colts opted to shake things up by trading future Hall of Fame guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks in a blockbuster deal. The move makes it clear that the Colts are not intent on still trying to compete this year amid their disastrous 2-5 start to the season.
Now, word has come out that more big moves could be on the horizon in Indianapolis.
“Sources: The #Colts are also actively shopping DT DeForest Buckner. I expect him to be moved soon if the right offer comes in,” reported NFL insider Jordan Schultz on X, formerly Twitter.
Buckner is one of the best players on the Indianapolis defense, and seemingly would have several trade suitors on the open market. It's unclear what kind of offers the Colts might get in exchange for him, or exactly how much compensation they got from the Seahawks in return for Nelson.
Ironically, the Colts cashed in on the New York Jets' trade fire sale last season by swooping in to acquire cornerback Sauce Gardner in order to bolster their chances of competing, but things have taken a turn for the worse since then, as Indianapolis saw last season derailed by Daniel Jones' Achilles injury, and have stumbled out of the gates to their 2-5 start this year.
Article Continues BelowThe Colts most recently lost to the Minnesota Vikings on the road, and things will only get tougher from here without Nelson and potentially others on the roster.
The Colts will next hit the field on Sunday for a tough game vs the Jacksonville Jaguars.
