Offering his perspective on the trade speculation surrounding his future, Josh Downs addressed the growing uncertainty with the Indianapolis Colts. Despite the reported request to leave, the wide receiver remains with the organization as the NFL trade deadline approaches, leaving questions about how the situation will ultimately unfold.

Speaking to reporters at his locker on Wednesday, Downs pushed back against the suggestion that he directly told the Colts he no longer wanted to play for them. When asked how he handles remaining with a team amid the trade speculation, he clarified his position.

“Those weren’t my words. But like I said, this is the team that drafted me and I’m on contract. So, I’m here right now and I gotta focus on that,” Downs said, per The Athletic's James Boyd.

Downs has recorded 30 receptions for 330 yards and one touchdown through eight games this season, leading the Colts in receiving yards. However, his production has slowed recently, with just 89 receiving yards over his last three appearances. Against the Jacksonville Jaguars, he finished with four catches for 23 yards and a touchdown in Indianapolis' 42-7 loss.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future, head coach Shane Steichen confirmed that Downs remains available and participated in a full practice. The Colts are now preparing for their upcoming matchup against the Dallas Cowboys, which could give Downs an opportunity to face his brother, Cowboys safety Caleb Downs.

For now, Downs remains with the Colts as uncertainty surrounding his future continues to linger ahead of the approaching trade deadline.
